Institute of Trade and Competitiveness a hallmark for promoting global trade
ITC has been inaugurated on Friday, April 1, 2016 at University of Management and Technology. ITC is a project of UMT that fosters global trade opportunities for stakeholders to bring economic prosperity. Dr. Hassan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, was the chief guest of the ceremony. During the inauguration Dr. Hasan Murad said “There are areas such as service exports which are mainly untapped. The main reason for this is the lack of knowledge and awareness about the global knowledge based economy and competitiveness. This lack of knowledge in our businessmen and economists is causing a huge loss of global trade opportunities and Institute of Trade and Competitiveness will serve as a mile stone to fill this gap.” ITC has an agenda to discover new markets, to access new technologies, to build new bridges, to strengthen entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship. Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad congratulated Mr. Ibrahim Qureshi for bringing government, academia, and industry together in a viable platform and setting up Institute of Trade and Competitiveness at UMT. Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad opined that the productivity and employment will increase only if we are able to sell abroad in newer markets and ITC would become instrumental in readdressing the downward curve of Pakistani export in near future.
ITC will also undertake research and Analysis of Pakistan’s global export and international business development trends among Pakistan and other countries and will serve as a regional and international centre of excellence for creating points of interaction to develop partnerships among Pakistan’s and international business community in selected countries . ITC will also provide advisory and consultancy services to all the stakeholders involved in trade, economic planning, business and management sectors in Pakistan and also in selected world regions and countries. Institute of Trade and Competitiveness aims to serve as a center of excellence, creating point of interaction between global and local stakeholders. ITC through its evidence based studies, trainings and advocacy will provide competitive advantage to local leaders and help to boost the market and ultimately bring profit and good name to Pakistan.
