Japan Times Visit to ITC
Mr. Crispian Robinson & Ms. Lisa Gordillo from Japan Times visited UMT on 23rd August 2016, Lahore. They visited University of Management and Technology (UMT) on the invitation of Mr. Ibrahim Qureshi, CEO ITC. Both guests were given a detailed tour of UMT campus. Witnessing outstanding educational facilities at UMT and the diverse mix of students impressed them.
Mr. Crispian and Ms. Lisa met Rector UMT, Dr. Hasan Shoaib Murad. They interviewed Rector, Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad for the Japan Newspaper. Rector UMT gave brief on various topics like role of education for a prosperous Pakistan, industry-academia linkages, UMT plan for 2020 and the new disciplines to be taught at UMT keeping in mind the futuristic requirements of Private and Government sector.
CEO ITC, Mr. Ibrahim Qureshi during the meeting briefed the visiting duo about the role and scope of newly established Institute of Trade and Competitiveness. He highlighted that ITC will be a hallmark symbol of public-private partnership in global trade promotion of Pakistan’s economy. It will work closely with different Government departments for effective implementation of the core objectives. This institute will be a center of convergence of academia and industrial practices, to help build a prosperous Pakistan. Both Lisa and Crispian expressed gratitude & positive wishes for ITC and discussed the possibility of working alliance between ITC and Japan Times.
